Re-Consent

Participant Protections

Also known as: reconsent, re-consent process

The process of obtaining renewed informed consent from already-enrolled subjects when significant new information would affect their willingness to continue.

Re-consent is typically required after material protocol amendments, newly discovered risks, or extended follow-up. The IRB approves the updated consent form and re-consent script.
