Local Context Review

Governance

Also known as: local context, local context considerations

The relying institution's review of state and local laws, institutional policies, and community considerations that the central IRB cannot reasonably evaluate.

Even when a single IRB serves as IRB of record, the relying site retains responsibility for state-specific consent or reporting laws, conflicts of interest of local staff, ancillary committee reviews, and community-specific concerns.
