Phase 2 Trial

Study Design

Also known as: Phase II, proof of concept trial

A clinical study that evaluates efficacy signals and further characterizes safety in a target patient population.

Phase 2 trials are often randomized and may include exploratory biomarkers and dose-ranging. Results inform whether to proceed to a confirmatory Phase 3.
