Phase 3 Trial

Study Design

Also known as: Phase III, pivotal trial, confirmatory trial

A large, often pivotal study designed to confirm efficacy and safety for regulatory approval.

Phase 3 trials are usually randomized, controlled, and adequately powered to support a marketing application. They generate the primary evidence FDA, EMA, and other regulators use to make approval decisions.
